High Weald Dairy

The High Weald Dairy is an award winning cheese maker based in the High Weald of Sussex near Horsted Keynes. They make a large range of extremely tasty cheeses at their unit on Tremains Farm. Thanks to Farm Renewables that cheese is now made with solar power!

We carried out extensive surveys of the dairy unit looking at a range of ground and roof mounted options for the client. It was decided that a 30kWp ground mounted array was the most cost effective option open to them, and we selected a disused corner of the farm yard to locate the modules.

As the ground mounted modules would be well over 9m² in surface area, we prepared and submitted a successful planning application to Mid Sussex DC, which also accounted for the farm being situated within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We also ensured the project would meet the Energy Performance Certificate requirements of being connected to a D or above building.

Competitive quotes were obtained from a number of installers to complete the job. A local Brighton based company were selected to complete the installation which we project managed on behalf of the client.

The installation is projected to supply the diary with over 40% of their electrical needs.
